5-20 What are the factors that affect the service life of lubricating oil?

Inhaled impurities, incomplete oil drainage, high operating temperatures, and condensed water at low temperatures all accelerate oil deterioration, reduce lifespan, and cause emulsification. Mixing old and new oil also shortens new oil's lifespan.
Case Details

Answer: (1) Inhaled impure air such as iron oxide, carbon dioxide, dust, etc. will accelerate the deterioration of oil.

(2) The used oil is not discharged cleanly. Mixing it with the newly filled oil will significantly reduce the service life of the new oil. When changing the oil, there is a certain oil capacity in the oil cooler. Some air compressors have a certain oil cooling capacity. The position of the separator is low, and it is difficult to drain the old oil through the oil separator. Therefore, there will be a mixture of new and old oil. In severe cases, the newly filled oil will soon turn black.

(3) The operating temperature of the air compressor is too high, which accelerates the oxidation and deterioration of the oil.

(4) When the operating temperature is lower than the dew point temperature, condensed water will enter the oil, causing emulsification during use.
